Lest we forget…

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Let me tell you this story when I first visited the
Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia
and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC
back in the early 1990’s

It was my very first time touring the North East United States with my Mom
and I was very excited to see all the scenery and sites.

As we reached the tour at the Vietnam Veterans Wall, and the Arlington Cemetery,
I must tell you how overwhelming it was
to see the mass amount of names
and graves all around you.

But, as a young man in his early 20’s,
to me it was just another tourist spot to see.
Just another scenery.
Just another place.

And when I looked at my Mom,
wondering why she was very quiet,
I have noticed that she was crying.

Then I began to realize,
The whole experience was different for her.
She was very well aware of how the war affected their generation.

I didn’t see it that way then.
How can I?
Freedom was given to me when I was born.
I didn’t go through the fear, the horror
and the loss of all the lives that was sacrificed for the betterment of the future.

Freedom and Independence truly has its price.

That’s something for us to really think about.
They didn’t have to do it.
But they did.

So thank a Veteran.
Remember the Fallen.

And help the younger generation understand
what has been given to them as well.

7 Years.

I was just re-visiting some of my writings here and I just realized that
we moved here in Florida, 7 years ago today.
And what I have learned back then remains true to this day.

If you ever need a Drivers License,
you should come here and get one.
Because they are giving it away here for free!

No one here knows how to drive.
You do not need to!
They will not check for your maneuvering abilities,
it will throw off their chaotic system of driving.

All you need is a strong heart,
a heavy foot to step on the gas,
(which comes in very handy when you go through red lights)
Oh.. and the ability to use your Middle finger.

Make sure you can drive fast too.
Because these people have guns.
And they will use it.

Oh and the thing that I learned which still remains true?
And that is…

“Common sense is not really so common.”

Time and Space

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

I am pretty sure that the “Bending of Time and Space”
happens during my lunch break.

Because, just when I finally find myself a Space..
I am already out of Time!

Lesson?
Time travel is only cool when you can control it.

All I need.

You know,
I could be a millionaire too.

I was thinking about this the other day,
when I read about those young entrepreneurs who
at their age, have accomplished big things
that made them rich and famous.

I am too old for starting something big, but
I realized that I don’t have to actually invent something.
I don’t have to come up with the “Next best thing since sliced bread.”

I mean, I am pretty sure the person who invented “Sliced Bread”
did not invent Bread, nor the act of slicing.

All he did was make use of what was already there.

So that’s it!
That’s what I need.

Some great “Idea.”
And some “Bread.”

Did this post made any sense?
Of course not.

My Father said…

I forgive you. I love you.
You are mine. Take my hand.
Go in peace. Sin no more.
Beloved one.

Music Quote of the day

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

There are only two things in this world that I know would never forsake me.

My God,
and my Music.

Everything else is a lie.

-Ty Martell, (August 14, 2010)

And you can quote me on that one.

Music Quote of the Day.

“..And, in the end,
the love you take
Is equal to the love you make.”

-Sir Paul McCartney

False Hope

Hope.
Even if it’s false,
is still Hope.

And you hold on to it.

Music Connects People

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

I have mentioned once or twice on this site before
about how Music connects people.

Or at the very least
people with similar music preference.

Music is universal and readily available
But it still has an acquired taste.

You will not join a music fan club that does not fit your liking.
And you favor the interaction with other people
who likes the same type of Genre that you enjoy.

Then they become your friends or connections,
even if you haven’t really met them in person.

Music connects people.
Music is the bridge that makes that happen.

In saying that,
I would like to tell you another proof that solidifies that statement.

Add that to the list.

Driving to work today made me realize
that one of the things that truly make me happy
is when I sing loudly in my car.
I mean, I really belt it out.
Loud!

I sing along to the mixed CD’s I have in there.
And even though it hurts me when I am done
like someone-punched-my-throat- kinda hurt,
I still enjoy it.

No matter how much I am dreading to get where I am going
or how bad my day went,
Singing in my car lifts me up.

So, add that to the list.
My list of “Things That Make Me Happy.”

Which includes:
-Singing in the shower
-Movie Marathons
-Butter
-Not giving a damn what anybody says.
