Category: Stuff I’ve learned

All that matters is…

One of the things I don’t understand
when you are going through some difficulties in life,
and people say to you:

“You shouldn’t feel sad.
There are others who are going through worse things than you.”

I don’t know about you, but doesn’t that equate to saying:

“Don’t be happy
because there are other people happier than you?”

Correct me if I’m incorrect.

Those are “your” problems,
which was handed to you
whether you are equipped enough to handle it or not,
or strong enough to withstand it,
I say, Go ahead!
Scream out your frustrations if you have to.
You have the right to complain.
You have the right to be heard.

Be mad at everyone around you.
It’s okay. Not very many care anyway.

Be mad at God if you have to,
It’s okay. I’m pretty sure your God can take it.

Be mad at yourself.
It’s okay. You’re the only one who is going through it.

And do not believe when people tell you
“I know what you’re going through. I’ve been there.”

That is nonsense!
They do not know what you are going through.
They may have an “idea” of what you’re going through.
But they can never know.

Your sufferings are different from mine.
Your pains are different from mine.
Your heartbreak is different from mine.
Your misery is different from mine.

It’s okay.
Be mad.

I get mad too.
I’ve had my shares of pain and sorrows.

But, don’t forget.
All of these have an opposite.
It also has an equal.

You will have your time of joy and happiness too.
Your time to shine and to be recognized.
Your time will come when you will have laughter and bliss.

And then, you will also realize that
people don’t know how you feel when you are happy either.
They might have an “idea,”
but they don’t know how happy you feel.

Don’t people think you’re crazy
when they see you laughing your socks off?

Exactly!
They can’t know it.

So it’s the same as being mad or sad.
They don’t know.

Which brings me to my point.
Other people do not know or do not care
what you go through.

What they think of you does not matter.
They are not going to lose sleep when you are sad.
Even if they are the reason you were sad in the first place.

It doesn’t matter what they think if you are happy either.
Most of them just get jealous and talk about you anyway.

None of that matter.

All that matters..
is You.

“All good things come to an end.
Bad things have an ending too.”

Lesson of the day

Something I learned today:

“Know those who love you truly and won’t give you up.
Some of them really care, but most of them are just curious.”

– Things go through my head when I just sit here, pretending not to care.

Need and Want

I saw this quote the other day.

“The world has enough for everyone’s needs.
Not enough for everyone’s wants.”

Now, I understand the big difference between the two.
But in fairness, the “Wants” motivates us to achieve more.
It helps us to focus and persevere.

We understand what we “Need.”
It’s the “Wants” that makes you get up in the morning and
Take on all the stuff this world feeds you.

It’s when people give up on what they “Want” that they realize what they “Need.”
Other times, people have too much “Wants” that they lose what they “Need.”

Some people would sacrifice losing what they “Want” for the same reason that they need their “Need.”

Do you know what I mean?
It’s a crazy vicious cycle.

I think what should really happen is,
For the world to stop showing us what we “Want,” and just tell us what we “Need.”

That’ll save everybody a whole lot of trouble.

When is it most quiet?

I have to admit, the world is a very noisy place.
Many a times, I would go and find sanctuary
just to have a little moment of peace.

And as much as I love music,
I have to unplug myself out of it from time to time.

But there is one thing I found
where I discovered it to be most quiet.

“The most silent place you could ever find yourself into
is at that moment when you are in need.”

That moment when you know there is no one that can bail you out.
That moment of realization that you are a victim of your own doing.

I am not speaking in figures nor I am pertaining to anyone.
It’s just something I have noticed,
through all my years of adult living.

No matter how many people there are in your circle.
No matter how many connections you have in your social life.
You will realize how deafening the silence is,
once you get yourself situated in such a quandary.

So let me ask you,

What do you hear
when you are right in the middle
of your hour of need?

My point exactly.

Setbacks

At this point of my existence,
I have been presented with another situation
with regards to my wellness.

And I have been pondering on possible solutions to how I could remedy this quandary.

Sometimes, you come to a certain crossroad in your life,
when you really do not want to choose any path,
nor find any reason or will to go on.

And then…

Something
or someone
or somehow,
you get a clear perspective of how things are
and gives you enough reason to fight.

To go on.

Even for one last time.

I was talking to a co-worker today
and he gave me a little wisdom just by sharing some of his views.

“Life is full of setbacks.
It’s how we deal with them that makes us different.”

I really think highly of this person, and he sure did make a lot of sense.

But in all honesty, I could have said the exact same thing.
I could have reminded myself of that.

Because I read a similar lesson
coming from Dumbledore.
And Gandalf.

Random Thought Of The Day

Sometimes, I’d rather have my life be based on true music,
rather than it being based on a true story.

I seem to feel the life,
the will,
the emotions
and worth,
through music instead.

Dreams

Dreams do come true.
Yes.

You see it in movies.
You hear it in songs.
You might have known some people who are lucky enough to have theirs fulfilled.

But what they don’t really tell you,
is that Nightmares do too.

And when they do,
they really hurt.

All I ever wanted

Today, my kid asked me this question.

“Dad, why did you choose to have your job on computers?”

I answered, “Because I like it and it’s a good job.”

“Okay.” He replied.
“If you weren’t working with computers, what would you have been doing instead?”

“Well,” I paused.
“I always wanted to be a musician.”

“A Rock Star?” He beamed at me.

“Yeah! A Rock Star.” I answered as I laugh.

“Awesome!” He smiled.
“So, if you weren’t a Rock Star, what would you have been?”

I stopped and thought for a moment.
And I took another moment.
And another.

I actually have no answer.
I couldn’t think of anything else that I’d be doing.
I wanted to be a Musician.
A “Rock Star” if you please.

It’s all I ever wanted.
Not much of the glamour or the lifestyle.
Just the Music.
Me and Music.

I believe in the love for it.
The passion you feel when you hear it.
The inspirations that comes when you play it.
The beauty that makes you feel when you’re in tune with it.

As my son looks at me, waiting for an answer,
I said, “I think that’s it. I don’t want to be anything else.”

He continues on playing with his stuff.
I think he got his answer.

It may not make much sense to him right now,
but when the time comes,
I am sure that one advice I’ll be giving him
when he thinks of what he wants to be,
is to find his passion.
Find his dream.
Find his Love.

And not just follow it.
Not just to chase it.
But to Grab it by its face and own it.

By then, he may not have everything,
but at least he has his happiness.

Just Because..

You have to understand..

Just because everybody likes you
Doesn’t make you better than me.

Just because you are friends with the boss
Doesn’t mean you are the boss.

Just because you drive a fancy car
Doesn’t make you a better driver.

Just because your house is beautiful
Doesn’t mean it will be filled with love.

Just because you can go to a lot of places
Doesn’t make you a traveler.

Just because you look nice
Doesn’t mean you are clean.

Just because you have the perfect girl
Doesn’t mean she loves you.

Just because you have nice things
Doesn’t mean you are rich.

Just because you’re OK,
Doesn’t mean you’re not hurting.

Just because you are devout
Doesn’t make you holy.

Just because you’re never alone
Doesn’t mean you’re not lonely.

Just because you’re honest
Doesn’t make you truthful.

Just because you have patience
Doesn’t mean you have peace.

Just because you’re satisfied
Doesn’t mean you’re happy.

Just because you do Charity,
Doesn’t mean you are Generous.

Just because you have Hope
Doesn’t mean you don’t doubt

Just because you have Love,
Doesn’t mean you don’t Hate.

The world is always double sided.
Yes or No.
True or False.
Black or White
Good or Evil.

Just because you made a decision
Doesn’t mean you’re decided.

Either you choose for others.
Or you choose for yourself.

And just because I wrote this
Doesn’t mean I make sense.
