What a show, what a show!

Eric Johnson was great as always,
at last nights performance.

I was very lucky to be able to get there early,
And I found myself a spot right in front of the stage.
I mean, I am literally leaning against it.

Johnny A. opened up for Eric,
And he put on a good show as well.
Played a bunch from his CD,
which I was planning on buying that night,
right after the show,
but I only have 20 dollars left,
And my car is in dire need of gas.

He ended his bit with a good mix of classic songs
from the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix.
Quite a guitar player that guy is, too.

Then Eric comes out, with his black Fender Stratocaster,
with a white pick guard and, I believe, with original stock pickups.

Started the show with “Summer Jam” and “My Back Pages” from
the album “Bloom.”

Obviously, I was mesmerized again with his playing techniques,
his flawless tone and his great persona.

Did I mention I was by the stage and he is just about 5 feet from me?

Somewhere along the show, I believe he looked at me,
And we had eye contact.
We had a moment.

Maybe in his mind, he knew that I was enjoying the show.
But in my mind I was debating if I was going to scream
like a real die-hard fan or if was going to flash him my boobs.

Good thing I did the first one.

He played some songs from the “Venus Isle” album and some from “Tones” too.
Of course, I went ballistic when he did “Cliffs of Dover” again.

I swear, every time I hear him play these songs live,
or in any other recordings,
there is always something new that he does
that keeps me loving the same songs over and over.

Roscoe Beck (Bass) was phenomenal as well.
And so was Tommy Taylor (Drums).
This “Tour Team” is definitely well worth to watch.

Another cool thing that happened,
Just like in the Satriani show in Orlando,
I was able to catch me one of Eric’s signature touring guitar picks.

When Eric threw the picks out, I knew I was too close to the stage
that I wouldn’t be able to catch one.
Even though he also handed some picks to the people up front,
He didn’t quite make it to my side of the stage.

So, I pretty much accepted that I didn’t get any souvenir from this show.

But as persistent as I am,
along with the other people,
still trying to look for guitar picks on the floor,
I took out my cell phone to use its glowing light to help me out,
and “Voila!”
There was one on the floor waiting for me to pick it up.
To the dismay of the other people around me, who heard me scream with glee.

This is the second time I have seen Eric perform live.
And both times, I truly did enjoy his performance.
And both times, I was very close to the stage,
enough to see his intricate guitar fingerings.

Both times, I was right by the front speakers.
Both times, I got out of there with a constant ringing in my ear.

And both times,
I considered myself,
officially deaf.

Check out the pictures I took
from my crappy cell phone.
