New Song Added – Himig

How about we do an old Philippine Classic Music.
This one is from one of The Philippines’ great Folk/Rock artists.
And definitely one of my greatest influences, Mr. Freddie Aguilar.
This one is called “Himig.”
One of my favorites, for sure.

I always thought that the music he did here was brilliant, yet haunting.
It’s very fun to play, yet there’s a sad tone to it.

It’s a Tagalog song, so I guess
we’re just going to ask Google to translate it for us.

I also discovered how to make the side by side effects on iMovie,
and I am starting to experiment more on what else we could do on it.
Be easy with me.
I’m a beginner on Video Editing.

I feel like this most of the day.

What?
I’m passionate about music.
I’m a passionate kind of guy.

I should have added another “really” in there
to convince people.

Ty’s Tuesday Tunes

Or should I call it Ty’s Tunes on Tuesday?
I don’t know.
I don’t care.
As long as we get to post something here.

This is an original from me and two of my buddies, Melvin and Raymund.
We did this back in the early 90’s
back when we were all still in school,
trying to make music whenever we hang out and jam.

I had this idea of a guy who has everything
but his everything is nothing because he couldn’t have this girl he fancied.

It was an idea that I suggested for a song
and by the next day, the words and melody were done.
Thanks to the mighty song writing ability of my two friends.

This one is called,
“If I Don’t Have You.”
By Melvin, Raymund and yours truly.

Sad Songs Say So Much

Remember that song by Mr. Elton John?
Sad songs says so much? No?
Never mind. You’re too young.

Anyways,
I have always been criticized,
for as long as I can remember,
that I play a lot of sad songs.

Well, I disagreed at first, of course.
I like Rock!
I play a lot of Rock.
I listen to a lot of Rock.

But over the years,
and as I look over my recorded tunes and covers,
I guess I really do.
I play a lot of Sad Songs.
Sad Ballads, if you call it that.

Then I realized, because it makes me feel better.
It makes me cope.
Sad songs have more substance than…let’s say
a happy, fast song full off Yeah, Yeahs or Baby, Baby’s.

Also, my voice is not made for Rocking and screaming.
I can’t. I really can’t.
I sing and play ballads with ease, compared to
hours and hours of trying to make a happy song work.

I don’t necessarily play sad songs because they’re what I feel.
I don’t even pay attention to the lyrics most of the time.
I just like how the music flows.
Let’s say my feelings flow more on the music rather than the message it conveys.

Then I read this article from Huffington Post,

Sad Songs May Actually Elicit Pleasant Emotions

So, that helped me understand.
I don’t mind being criticized now.
I like sad songs.
It makes me happy.

Except Country Music.
That one is just depressing.
(I kid, I kid.)

I felt it.
I remembered why I worked hard to learn the instrument.
I love it.
I really do.

I’m not a guitar nor a music expert.
But I just really love how they both make me feel.

Cheesy as it may sound, I know.
But I remembered why I stood by it in the first place.
And that is why I’m still playing it all this time.

Ty’s Tuesday Tunes

Ty’s Tuesday Tunes.
It’s got a little ring to it, doesn’t it?

I’m just thinking of ideas to make me update this site regularly.
Making music is a lot of work, even though it’s quite fun for me to do.

Plus, there’s so much I want to play and learn.
As you can see from all the covers I have done, I really enjoy recording music.
But, I have done so much, I don’t even remember them all.

So, as I was driving home today, I thought of this.
Ty’s Tuesday Tunes.
Kinda like Throwback Thursday, but on Tuesday.
And it’s not pictures, but songs.
It’s a way for me to remember some of the music I have done
or maybe introduce some tunes I am working on.

You see?
It’s a brilliant idea!

I am full of ideas.
The problem is, they’re mostly full of shit.
And they usually get me in trouble.
But that is not important right now.

This song came on my iPod shuffle today.
(Yes, I like listening to myself sometimes.)

And I said to myself, “Hey, you haven’t heard this one in a while.”
And my self answered, “You’re right!” I haven’t.”
So, I said, “Man, this song is cool!”
And my self replied, “Yeah! It’s great! We should post something on the site!”
“We should!” I answered back.
My self yelled, “Yeah!”
I said, “Awesome!”
Then we fist bumped and sang along with the music.

*Sigh*
Fun times. Fun Times.

I’m going to bed.

I regret it

I know music hasn’t been very nice to me lately.
I haven’t been happy with how it comes out of me.

Though I might have subconsciously tried to avoid playing too.
I should have tried, at least.
I know I don’t give up that easily.

I’ll just wait for next weekend then, eh?

If I may be serious for a moment.

A couple of months ago,
we had some troubling news within our family.

It has been challenging, to say the least.
Not just for me, but for every member of our clan.

Without going into details,
I would like to say that things are looking up.
And we have been given more hope.

I would like to take this opportunity
to thank everyone who have given their sincerest support,
thoughts and prayers.

Even to those whom I have only known by name
and not really acquainted with, offered a helping hand.

It is still a long journey ahead,
but at least hope is in sight.
