“I try to use my music to move these people to act.” – Jimi Hendrix

Today, it has been 43 years since Jimi, passed away.
For guitar players, it is mandatory to listen and learn from his music style.
His style is one that is most copied and admired.

I didn’t really listen to Jimi until late into my Guitar learning.
I never had his albums
and the radio stations didn’t play much of his music when I was growing up.

But when I heard his music, I knew that it was going to be one of those styles
that I wouldn’t be able to play.
Up to this day, I can’t play any of his songs.
Of course, they are hard to learn in my opinion.

A lot of guitar guys I know learn Jimi’s songs and style
just so they can show off or to prove that they are passionate guitar players.

To be honest with you,
As much as I would love to learn Jimi’s songs,
I would much rather listen to him
and enjoy his musical genius pouring down my ears.

I just want to listen how Jimi changed the world of Guitar music.
I have no desire to play his songs.
I don’t need to show off.
I just want to experience it.

And I am okay with that.

Under Warranty?

I remember when I moved to North America,
one of the best policies I have learned is “Warranty.”
They actually honor the warranties on any product you purchase.
Within a certain amount of time, of course.
But some even give you their guarantee for the whole product’s lifetime.

How cool is that?

And we will never forget

“It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds.
I do not agree. The wounds remain.
In time, the mind, protecting its sanity,
covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens.
But it is never gone.”

#TuesdayTunesbyTy

Can we do a hashtag?
No?
Never mind then.

This is an old favourite, of course.
I did this way back in… I can’t even remember.

All I can recall was that
I was so surprised that I was able to do it.
Also I was feeling all the Guitar notes at the end.

That’s one thing about me playing.
The notes I hit comes from how I feel that day,
at that particular moment.

I can never repeat them.
If I want to play it exactly the way I recorded it,
I have to study it.
Which in effect, loses its feeling for me.

I don’t like forcing the music to come out of me.
I don’t like to beg for it either.
Whatever needs to come out, will come out.
Much like when I eat this third bag of chips
It’s going to come out soon enough.

Questions

In the past year or so
things haven’t been going well
with me and my family, personally.

In times like these,
I am confident enough to say that
I have treated these challenges as an adult.
Facing them as rational as I can,
and with my faith as my guide.

I think I have been doing good so far.

But today, I am not too sure.
Today is a different day.

Today I actually started to question
the existence of God.

I shouldn’t, you say?
Don’t worry.
If He does exist,
I’m pretty sure one Supreme Being can handle
one Human Being’s anger towards Him.

Ty’s Tuesday Tunes

Can I call it “Tuesday Tunes by Ty?”
Is it better?
No?
Never mind then.

Anyway,
I’m still kinda working on a song
so I don’t have any new ones here.

But, let’s stroll down memory lane
and revisit this old one I covered.

Just so you know,
Early 90’s Rock had a lot of influence on my music upbringing.
I am a child of the 80’s and I listened to a lot of music then,
but most of the stuff I play came a decade later.

Here’s an old favorite of mine,
Cama de Rosas! by Juan Bongiovi

Hope you’ll like it.
