The Aftermath.

Thank God,
there was no damage on our side of the hurricane turmoil.

Though we had winds in excess of 60 – 75 Miles per hour.
Quite scary, really.

First, I thought 60 miles an hour isn’t really that bad,
but then Tracy gave me this example,

Imagine when your car is going 60 Miles per hour,
and you stick your hand out the window,
Isn’t it hard to control the blowing wind?

Now this Hurricane had a power of greater than 140 Mph.
Sustained.

Wow,
Isn’t that just freaky?

Well, anyways,
Praise God that we were all safe,
and our sympathies to those who perished and were greatly affected.

Thanks to all our friends who called and emailed us,
wondering how we’re doing.

Now, I need to go back and work on the “Photos” section of this site.

Storm update!

We’ve got,
Hurricane warnings,
Tornado warnings,
Severe wind gust warnings,
Severe flood warnings,
and involuntary evacuation advisories.

And Hurricane Charley has been upgraded from a “Category 3“,
to a “Category 4”, within a matter of minutes.

Not cool!

I better go through my evacuation check list one more time.

Let’s see,
Baby food, (check)
Non perishable foods, (check)
Canned goods, (check)
Bottled water, (check)
Important documents, (check)
Extra clothes and blankets, (check).

Okay, that’s it for now.
Going to watch some more news updates.

Oops!, better wear some decent pants.

Hurricane

As of 11 am today (I think),
The whole State of Florida is in a State of Emergency.

Hurricane Bonnie and Charley is expected to hit within the next 2 days.
There are warnings everywhere,
and tips on how to survive if worse comes to worst.

Alright! Our first Florida hurricane.
How bad could this be?

I grew up in the Philippines,
where dealing with storms is a way of life.
And Tracy grew up in the South,
where tornadoes flattens towns once a month.

I am sure, we can handle this.

Yeah, that’s how I felt earlier today.
But they show the warning messages on TV, every five minutes,
and consistently show footages of previous damaging storms.
Not to mention, evacuation commenced in the Florida keys,
made us think twice about this.

Where are we gonna go?
What are we gonna do?
Do we have enough supplies?
Do the cars have enough gas?
How am I gonna watch the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics?

See, my worries are a lot different now.
Now that I have a family of my own.

Because when I was a kid in the Philippines,
and there’s a signal no. 3 Storm,
all I was worried about was,

“I hope I still get to play my Atari 2600.”

Music formats

E = MC2 —-> E = MP3

I removed both “WMA” and “RA” formats for the songs.
I don’t see the point of keeping them anymore.
They are just taking up space.

Plus, I believe most Audio softwares are capable of playing MP3’s anyway.
I just put the other two formats for the dial-up users, since they are smaller.
And I feel bad for them to have to wait.

But then I figured,
being a dial-up user is being used to waiting anyway.
(Oh man, I know one friend who is on dial-up, and I ‘m sure I’m gonna hear it now.)

But hey!
If I can wait hours to download other files on dial up,
( ie… software patches, pdf forms, norp .. etc)
I can wait for one mp3 file.

So anyway,
if anyone prefers the songs in the other two formats,
let me know and I’ll post it back.
(Yeah, like anybody reads and listens to this crap.)

But, I know everyone likes to waste some time,
so here are some cool links.

Enjoy!

Two More Songs

Holy Son of a Biscuit Eater!
2 songs?

How did you manage that?
Having a 22 Month old and all.

Well, the 22 Month old took a 2 hour nap.
That’s how.

First is,
Marian’s Dance, by Steve Fairclough,
And second is,
Song for George, by Eric Johnson.

Eric Johnson, as you know, is one of my favorite guitar players.
And I have always wanted to record one of his intricate, melodic tunes in here,
but they are all just too hard.
Well, not to mention they all suck when I play them.

So, I called Mr. Johnson on his phone to ask him.

I said,
“Hey Eric, why wouldn’t you write a piece that’ll be easy to play
and give your admirers a break and be able to play at least one of your songs.
Come on man! You’re killing us!”

He said,
“Who are you and how did you get this number?”

Okay, okay,
I was just dreaming.

But anyway,
I hope you like it, and if you hear any mistakes,
it’s just all in your head.

So here’s

Marian’s Dance

And,

Song for George

Oh, and on a side note,
I think that’s it for acoustic sounds for a while.
Time to re-kindle my romance with “Delilah.”
(Yes, I named my electric guitar, “Delilah”. You stay out of this!)

3 months

Happy 3 months honey!
I can’t wait to snuggle with you tonight. Hehehe.

Oh crap, which reminds me,
I need to shower.

Another Song Added!

A special request from my cousin Joie.

Here’s my attempt on that classic song.
Just don’t pay any attention to the mistakes.

Hope you like it.

Happy Birthday to my cousin Joie!

I haven’t finished your song request yet.
I promise I’ll finish it soon,
I have just gotten busy these past few days.

It all started when,
I sprained my wrist cooking dinner in the microwave the other night.
So I went to Walmart to get one of those ace wrap brace,
but I got stuck at the blood pressure machine right by the pharmacy,
so I just decided to go to the beach and take a relaxing walk,
but I think I caught a nasty cold while I was there.

I sneezed very loud and I think I bruised my lungs.
I also coughed three times in succession.
Though I have no other symptoms,
I thought I better take a nap just in case.

And last night, I thought of finishing your song,
as I was laying in my bed, looking up at the stars,
thinking, “Where the hell is my ceiling”?

Okay okay!!
I was just too lazy!
I’m sorry.

I’ll do it sometime soon.

Happy Birthday again,
and hope you have a good one.

We love you very much!

“Very Special Love”
An old song by Maureen McGovern.

Mobile Player here:

I remember hearing this song on the radio when I was young.
I think the Station was called “104. 7 – The Mellow Touch”.

Anyway,
I think it’s a very cool song.

Well, I used to like it,
before I played it.

Though I am sure some of my old friends like this one.

Please take a number

Have you ever seen that TV ad about something
that says,

“In our company, you are not a number. You are a person.
So come in and be treated for what you are.”

“What a bunch of Bull!”

In these troubled times, nobody is a person anymore.
Nobody cares about who or what you are.
Everything nowadays is a number.
And that includes you and me.

When you are born you are under a file number to start with.

Didn’t everybody had a class number or student number at school?

Applying for a job doesn’t depend on who you are,
but the number of years of experience you had,
or how high the numbers on your transcript is.

I hope you know your employee number,
just in case you need to confirm your insurance benefits,
while they send you your insurance ID Number.

When you call your bank or credit cards to beg for a delay payment,
(okay maybe that’s just me)
Do they ask your name?
NO!
They ask for your 16 digit card number or reference number.

Am I the only one who gets those card PIN numbers, Bank account numbers, Access code numbers, Security pass numbers, all mixed up?

Anybody remember their family and friends’ home phone number,
cell phone number and office number?
(throw in a fax number if you want)
I don’t.
All I know is that my Mom is speed dial 1,
And my brother is 2.

How many times do you have to write your Drivers License number
on any application forms you fill out?

In Canada you have an SIN number for the “Insurance” of your “Social” belonging.
While,
in the States you need your SSN number for the “Security” of your “Social” owning.

And, may I add,
that you are “NOTHING” until these numbers are authentic, valid and confirmed.

Did you hear me?
N-O-T-H-I-N-G!!!!

You are also being judged on how much you earn,
Rate per hour and your Annual Income.

Then you spend sleepless nights thinking about,

Your retirement funds,
Your credit score rating,
Interest rates,
Your kids school tuitions,
Grocery budget,
Car payments,
A mortgage,
Carbs,
Calories,
Grams of fat,
Sugar,
Cholesterol,
Your weight,
Your dress size.

And when you die,
You don’t just die,

You are a “Statistic”.

See?
We are all just a bunch of numbers.
And to add insult to injury,
We are so used to it, that we don’t really care.
We are already numb in this fast paced world we live in.

As I ponder about this,
I tried to think of a place where I am not a number.
A place where I know I can be who or what I truly am.
And that place would be,

Church.

Somehow, this place gives you a feeling of calmness,
Amidst all of the troubles and chaos around you.

It’s the only place where you can complain and get everything off of your chest.
And management really listens to whatever you say.

It’s the only place where transactions do not include a number.

Well,
Except during collection time.

Then I am the 2 dollar guy,
at the back row,
near the exit.
