On Feb 25, 2010,
Around 19:30 EST, I have anticipated to watch the
Women’s Hockey Gold Medal match
between Canada and the United States.
I have been waiting for this game all that day.

I got home from work,
had my dinner, got my drink,
straight to the couch, got comfortable,
turned the TV on, switched to NBC.

I see the match for Figure skating.
Great! Maybe I’ll watch that later too.

You see, in my area of TV coverage, and with the Dish Satellite Plan I subscribe to,
The only stations that show the Olympics are NBC and CNBC.

So I switch to CNBC.
And lo and behold, this is what I saw…

The New Age of WalMart?
Right in the middle of a historic Gold Medal Match?
They show this?

I know WalMart is God, here in the South,
but to show this now?
This must be a joke.
The US team is playing too.
They have to show that game!

Okay. Fine.
“Don’t panic, Ty.” I said to myself.
“This has happened before.”
“NBC has screwed you before.” (Read here)
“You know what to do.”

I go to the power of Internet Online Streaming.
Haha! You cannot deny the power of the internet with major events like this.

The official Site for Olympics Online Streaming is…
NBCOlympics.com.
Freakin’ lovely!

So I enter the site, and I was required to sign in with my Dish Satellite account credentials.
Sure, fine.
Whatever gives me the show.

But as I log in, here’s how they got me by the balls.

I was required to upgrade my Plan!
Are they crazy?
There is a reason why I subscribe to the plan I have now, and they want me to upgrade my channel subscription?
That would cost me money!
For a year!

So, screw that idea.

Plan B!!

I seeked the power of Google and searched the interwebnets
for alternative sites that would give me the match I was looking for.

And it pointed me to onlineolympics.blogspot.
As I clicked on “Watch,”
Up pops this message…

Holy Shit! I have to do these surveys first?
I have to answer them to unlock the freakin’ page?
What Twilight character am I?

You know what? Screw it.
It’s the 3rd period already.
There’s no sense pursuing this quest.
I can get the score updates on my phone anyways.
I just wanted to see history as it happens.

Screw you, NBC!
You just can’t be satisfied by switching your late night hosts,
you have to mess up my Olympics experience too.

That’s fine.
I like watching the Figure skating matches anyway.
Where the women are judged by their execution,
their power and their command on the ice.
While the Men are judged by means of “Fabulousssssss!!!”

Oh! And by the way.
I am Bella.
