I tried to play a couple of new songs yesterday,
but this cough wouldn’t let me.

Maybe it’s Nature’s way of telling me
to shut the hell up.

But that wouldn’t stop me from sharing my misery with you.
So I give you another song I have dug from my archives.

Hands to Heaven

Music by – Breathe
Voice and all Instruments by – Ty Martell

I recorded this in 2006,
when I was still experimenting on how to record
multiple instruments.

I used to play the guitar and sing it at the same time,
but not anymore.
With the advancement of technologies available now
I can create most of the arrangements I have in my head one at a time.

I am just kidding. I just never figured out how to do multiple tracks then,
so I did it “Live.”
Then add the Bass, harmony and whatever guitar-solo-noodling I do, later.

Now you might be asking yourself,
“Why in the world would I listen to your crap, Ty?”
And why do you keep posting them online?”

Well, first.
I am sick and you should feel bad for me.

Second,
I am a sad, strange individual,
and you should give me some pity.

And third,
When I am old and decrepit,
alone with my cat,
I have proof that I used to play music.

And not just pretend that I did
when I tell stories to the younger kids.

Or tell stories to my cat.

LYRICS

HANDS TO HEAVEN
by Breathe

As I watch you move, across the moonlit room
There’s so much tenderness in your loving
Tomorrow I must leave, the dawn knows no reprieve
God give me strength when I am leaving…

So raise your hands to heaven and pray
That we’ll be back together someday

Tonight, I need your sweet caress
Hold me in the darkness
Tonight, you calm my restlessness
You relieve my sadness

As we move to embrace, tears run down your face
I whisper words of love, so softly
I can’t believe this pain, it’s driving me insane
Without your touch, life will be lonely

So raise your hands to heaven and pray
That we’ll be back together someday

Tonight, I need your sweet caress
Hold me in the darkness
Tonight, you calm my restlessness
You relieve my sadness

Morning has come, another day
I must pack my bags and say goodbye…
